While Teen Titans Go! tends to be an acquired taste for many, I find their antics adorable and hilarious. This tale is no different–if you follow the show, the personalities are very accurately depicted in this role playing adventure. Robin finds himself hosting a game of Basements and Basilisks (a homage to Dungeons and Dragons), to which the Titans are not amused by in the beginning. The adventure evolves from a challenging game of torture to one of fun and excitement when a Titans’ foe disguises herself as a well-meaning Basement Boss and casts the group under a spell to cause some mischief in the real world.

I loved it. TTG! is known for its silly gags and there’s nothing short of it here. The story was entertaining, flowing well enough to keep a young reader engaged in the antics. The art is recognizable–unfortunately, the low quality of the review copy prevents me from analyzing it further but fans of the series will find their character designs true to the material.

A must-have for young readers who may also be familiar with DnD! Even if they’re not, this title is a surprisingly interesting way to be introduced to this type of gaming.

DC provided an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
